Installation : The Shell
Young, creative talent bursting with enthusiasm is what I experienced on my visit to Parkside University, Birmingham. The students who are in the first year of the Design for Theatre, Performance and Events came together and produced a life size installation celebrating 400 years of Shakespeare called ‘The Shell’. The learners were in their third module of their program and were given the theme on the historic writer, they went off individually to come up with their ideas and sketches. Then collectively decided what the finalised piece would include and proceeded with their designs. They built a structure made of paper and built layers upon layers to strengthen it and make the shapes and models. The end result is a very detailed art installation showing some famous characters and scenes from Shakespeare's literature and plays.
