Our home and the JQ Open Studios

The Jewellery Quarter is an unique area with over 250 years of history, architecture ,industry and heritage. It is now  developing into an urban village that has a thriving community of small and independent businesses from retailers, skilled craft people, artists, designers, restaurants, jewellers, museums and galleries and is known as “Birmingham’s Gem’.

Historically it was the home and work place of some of the countries great industrialists and business men such as James Watt, Matthew Boulton and Joseph Lucas. It proudly has over  200 listed buildings and more notably the famous landmark of the Chamberlain clock. The Jewellery Quarter is currently undergoing redevelopment with new apartments, homes, education establishments and new businesses.

This year it hosts the second JQ Festival which includes Visualé and over 50 local business from within the Quarter taking part in the Open Studios 2016. Doors will be opening up to the public enabling them to meet business owners and see what goes on behind the scenes. It is a weekend full of entertainment, music, skilled craft people demonstrating and selling their products and services to the public. So show your support for local and independent businesses, come and enjoy a fabulous family weekend in the Jewellery Quarter 23rd - 24th July.
